ATTENTION STUDENTS

Students are reminded that teachers are not available for extra help or makeup on Monday afternoons. Students who would like to stay after school on Mondays to complete work or students who are waiting for sports practices to start, are to report to the cafeteria by 2:15. Students should not wander the building at that time.

 

SET DESIGN COMPETITION – CORAL PROPS FOR THE MUSICAL

Students can compete to win a first prize of $50 by creating coral set pieces for the Musical. Students can work in teams up to 2 students. Pieces are due March 16th so come down and see Ms. Miller or Ms. Belanger for more details!

 

JETS

The JETS competition is THIS FRIDAY!! Our last meeting to prepare is tomorrow in Mrs. Schulze's room. We will be discussing important competition information, so high school JETS team members should make this meeting a high priority.   

 

ARCHERY CLUB

The Archery Club will be meeting this Wednesday from 2:15 to 3:00 in the middle school gym. Both middle school and high school students are welcome. Please see Ms. Gonciarz if you have any questions.

 

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY

Please remember that orders for the Spring Bulb fundraiser are due this Friday, March 2nd.  Please turn orders in to Mrs. Marshall in M12.

 

SOS

The next SOS meeting is Wednesday from 2:00 – 3:00 in room H03. Anyone is welcome! Please see Mrs. Sullivan if you have any questions. 

 

MONTY TECH VOCATIONAL INTEREST PROGRAM

Open to 7th and 8th graders who live in Worcester County.  Students will experience five different shops/trades from 3:00 – 5:00 for five Thursdays starting March 15.  Transportation is provided from Mahar to Monty; however, students will need to be picked up at Monty Tech at 5:00.  Applications are available in Student Services and are due March 1st.

 

 

 

KEY CLUB SPAGHETTI SUPPER

There will be a Key Club Spaghetti Supper this Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Mahar cafeteria.  The menu includes spaghetti with meat or meatless sauce, salad bar, garlic bread, beverage, and homemade dessert on an "all-you- can -eat" basis.  Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $2.00 for children under 12.  Tickets are available from Key Club members.  They will also be sold during lunch on March 1 and March 2 and at the door.

 

Today’s lunch is hamburger on a whole wheat bun.

Ms. Thorn's, Ms. Woodward's, and Mr. Dowler's advisory groups will meet this morning in room M01. This room is located near the middle school office.

 

NEW SALEM LIBRARY

The Teens & Tweens program is free of charge and open to students from throughout the region each Wednesday afternoon. Kids can ride the school bus to the library or drop by anytime between 1:30 – 5:30 pm. Snacks are provided. For further information, call 978-544-6334.  There will be a free 4-week Introduction to Astrology series with Mara Bright. We'll explore what planets, signs and houses mean in a chart and how to interpret their placements. It starts on Tuesday, February 20 from 6 - 8 p.m. and continues on February 27, March 6, 13, and 20 at the New Salem Library.  All levels are welcome.  We'll look at our own birth charts for practice. Please register at either library.  New Yoga class starting up at the end of February.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY

There will be a brief mandatory meeting of the members of the National Junior Honor Society today at 2:15 in Mrs. Marshall's room, M12.  This is a rescheduled meeting from the previous Wednesday.  This meeting is regarding our yearly fundraiser.  Please be sure to contact Mrs. Marshall if you are unable to attend.  

 

KEY CLUB

There will be a Key Club meeting today beginning at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Please have departure rides here for 8 p.m.

 

BASEBALL TRYOUTS

Anyone interested in playing this spring please come to a short meeting today at 2:10 in the middle school gym.

Kids can ride the school bus to the library or drop by anytime between 1:30 – 5:30 pm. Snacks are provided. The Envirothon Team will hold an official meeting today from 2:00 – 3:00 in M14.  Mrs. Flood is happy and excited to get our team up and running.  The meeting will take place in M14.  Anyone interested in helping to save the planet and making the world a better place to live (environmentally speaking, that is) is welcome to attend.  Come and check it out! Snacks and light refreshments (it's hard work saving the environment) will be served. Can't make the date, but interested in joining? Email Mrs. Flood.

Kids can ride the school bus to the library or drop by anytime between 1:30 – 5:30 pm. Snacks are provided.
