Mock Car Crash

Wednesday, May 2, 2018 @ 1:00 p.m.

R.C. Mahar High School Parking Lot

As prom and graduation season nears, the Mahar Regional School, along with support from the Orange Fire and Police Departments, will be conducting a mock car crash on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.  This event will be viewed by Juniors and Seniors for the purpose of educating students on the dangers of impaired driving.  The event will begin with a short presentation to Juniors and Seniors in the auditorium followed by a simulated car crash in the high school parking lot.

The simulation will include a drunk driving crash in which four victims, played by students, will need to be extricated from the vehicles by Fire and EMS services. Weather permitting, Life Flight is scheduled to land on the field hockey field as part of the demonstration. There will also be a simulated fatality that will be removed from the scene by Witty's Funeral Home as well as the arrest of the drunk driver.

The overall purpose of this event is to help our students understand the realities and dangers of impaired driving and to encourage everyone to make good choices during the upcoming graduation season and beyond.
