70th Day of School

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS

Students are reminded that teachers are not available for extra help or makeup on Monday afternoons.  Students who would like to stay after school on Mondays to complete work or students who are waiting for sports practices to start, are to report to the cafeteria by 2:15.  Students should not wander the building at that time.

 

JETS

The high school and middle school JETS teams will be meeting tomorrow in Mrs. Schulze’s room.  The December math challenge has been posted in Google Classroom.  This is our last meeting of 2016! This is our last meeting of 2016! We will be investigating home energy efficiency.

 

PEER MEDIATION

The peer mediation seminar is this Thursday from 10:00 to 10:40 in the Kermit Cook Auditorium.  Newly trained mediators are encouraged to attend.

 

SOPHOMORE CLASS FUNDRAISER

Looking for new Mahar gear? The class of 2019 will be running a fundraiser this week, selling Mahar water bottles, cell phone wallets and lanyards.  Items will be available from class officers at lunch and can also be purchased after school by seeing Mr. Kirouac in room H14.

 

COLLEGE VISIT

A representative from Lincoln Tech Institute in Connecticut, will be here Thursday, December 15th at 11:00 in Student Services.  Any senior interested in meeting with this representative should sign up in Student Services or health class and get a pass.

 

SOPHOMORES

A practice test for the ACT Test will be held on Thursday December 22nd, here at Mahar, for interested sophomores.  The test costs $12.00 and is great practice for the ACT, which you may take in your junior year.  Please see Mrs. Tresback in the Guidance office to sign up and to receive your free practice test booklet.  The deadline to sign up is Wednesday by 3:00 p.m.

  

 

FROM STUDENT COUNCIL

The Annual Sock Drive for the needy will go until the end of January.  Please take the time to donate socks, mittens and hats to help out your community and those in need of a clean pair of socks or a warm pair of mittens or hat.  Donation boxes can be found in any teacher’s room, middle school classroom, Mr.  Kirouac’s class and in the cafeteria.  Please see Ms. Alain-Moody if you have any questions.

 

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

The Big Y Scholarship deadline is February 1, 2017.  The Henry David Thoreau Foundation scholarship for seniors interested in environmental studies, the deadline is February 1, 2017.  The Massachusetts Elks Scholarship for a senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at a four year college, the deadline is February 1st.  The Elks National Family Legacy Award Scholarship for college bound seniors who are the children or grandchildren of dues-paying Elks, the deadline is February 3rd.

 

SCHOOL STORE

Need any Mahar swag for the holidays? The School Store will be open during all lunches this Thursday.  Come and stop by right outside the cafeteria.

 

Today’s lunch is American Chop Suey or ham and cheese sub.
