66th Day of School

 

DELAYED OPENING THURSDAY

There will be a delayed opening this Thursday, December 8th.  Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and classes will begin at 10:40 a.m.

 

LATE BUS SIGN UP

Mr. Malo will have a sign up book at all lunches and the book will be in the Middle School office until 1:30.

 

COLLEGE VISIT

A representative from Johnson and Wales University will be here today at 11:30 to meet with any senior interested in Johnson and Wales.  Please come to Student Services first thing this morning for a pass, if you would like to meet with this representative.

 

SOPHOMORES

A practice test for the ACT Test will be held on Thursday December 22nd, here at Mahar, for interested sophomores.  The test costs $12.00 and is great practice for the ACT, which you may take in your junior year.  Please see Mrs. Tresback in the Guidance office to sign up and to receive your free practice test booklet.  The deadline to sign up is December 14th by 3:00 p.m.

 

FISH ‘N GAME CLUB

There will be a Middle School Fish ‘N Game Club meeting tomorrow at 2:10.  This meeting will now be in C15.  The high school club will meet at 6 p.m. in room H10.

 

ROBOTICS

The Robotics Club will be meeting today and tomorrow after school in Ms. Cote’s room, C05.

 

KEY CLUB

There will be a Key Club meeting tomorrow beginning at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Please have departure rides here for 8 p.m.


SOS

The next SOS meeting is tomorrow from 3:00 – 5:00 in H03.  Anyone is welcome! Please see Mrs. Sullivan if you have any questions.

 

MY LITTLE PONY CLUB

The club will meet today from 3:00 – 4:00 in room S02.  We look forward to seeing you then.  Please see Ms. Church or James Duteau with any questions.  Refreshments will be served.

 

MONTY TECH

8th grade and any high school students who are interested in applying to Monty Tech must do so before January 9, 2017.  Please see Mrs. Hoyle for questions.

 

WENDELL DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS

The Wendell Dollars for Scholars committee is looking for a student who may be interested in helping them with electronic set up of their scholarship.  The student will need basic website skills to aid in setting up a GoFundMe account, updating their website and creating an electronic application.  If interested, please call Christine Heard at 978-544-2282 or come to Student Services for information.

 

FROM STUDENT COUNCIL

The Annual Sock Drive for the needy will begin this week and go until the end of January.  Please take the time to donate socks, mittens and hats to help out your community and those in need of a clean pair of socks or a warm pair of mittens or hat.  Donation boxes can be found in any teacher’s room, middle school classroom, Mr.  Kirouac’s class and in the cafeteria.  Please see Ms. Alain-Moody if you have any questions.

 

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

The Big Y Scholarship deadline is February 1, 2017.  The Henry David Thoreau Foundation scholarship for seniors interested in environmental studies, the deadline is February 1, 2017.  The Massachusetts Elks Scholarship for a senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at a four year college, the deadline is February 1st.  The Elks National Family Legacy Award Scholarship for college bound seniors who are the children or grandchildren of dues-paying Elks, the deadline is February 3rd.

 

HOLIDAY MOVIE NIGHT AT MAHAR

The Key Club is sponsoring a night of holiday fun this Friday beginning at 6 p.m. in the Kermit Cook Auditorium.  Anyone in grades 9 – 12 is welcome to join us for two holiday movies; we will be showing Home Alone and Elf on the big screen.  Movie night is free, but refreshments including popcorn, cookies, and hot chocolate will be sold.  Donations will also be accepted.

 

Today’s lunch is cheese ravioli or roast beef sub.
