LATE BUS SIGN UPS

Students must sign up for the late bus during their lunch time. The book will be located in the cafeteria. Please make sure to write your first name and last name when you sign up and also list the teacher you will be staying with.

 

ELA MCAS TEST PREP

Do you need a little refresher before taking the MCAS? There will be MCAS test prep sessions today through Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 in the library.  All students taking the 10th grade ELA MCAS tests are encouraged to attend.  Remember that you do not need to stay the entire two hours.  Please see Mr. Bashaw if you have any questions.

 

ALL 11TH AND 12TH GRADE TAB TRAINERS

There will be an important TAB meeting today in Student Services from 2:05 – 3:00.  Please attend if you can.

KEY CLUB

There is a Key Club meeting today beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Please have departure rides here for 8:00 p.m.

 

COLLEGE FAIR

Field trip permission forms are now available for the National Association of College Admissions College Fair in Springfield, happening on Monday, April 9th. This trip is free (students must bring lunch money or a bagged lunch) and is available for the first forty juniors to sign up.

 

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Information is available in Student Services for the Cohn & Company Real Estate Agency Scholarship.  Any senior planning to attend the Greenfield Community College is eligible for this scholarship.  Please use the General Scholarship Application to apply and submit it to the Student Services Office.  The deadline is April 23, 2018.  Also, Scholarship Booklet #4 is now available in Student Services and on the school's website.

 

 

AOTV

Athol-Orange Community Television will be hosting an open house for students interested in learning more about Communications. Explore the studio, green screen, radio and tv areas. If you are interested in learning more about making your own cable tv or radio show or learn the technical side of things, come to the open house with your questions! 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. PROJECT PURPLE PARTY AT THE Y

The Athol Area YMCA will have a Project Purple Party at the Y on this Friday from 6:30-9:15.  This free event with swimming, gym, a DJ, games and pizza and snacks is open to all area Middle School and High School students. 

 

KEY CLUB SPRING FLING TRIVIA NIGHT

Do you like trivia?  Find 4 friends and sign up as a team of five to compete in the Key Club’s Spring Fling Trivia Competition this Friday beginning at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria.  There will be awesome team prizes for each round of competition and a grand prize for the most correct answers.  The registration fee for each team of five people is $15.00.  Students in grades 9 -12 must register their teams with Miss Smith in the Key Club room by tomorrow.  Faculty and staff are also encouraged to create and register teams; teams can be student, faculty, or a mix of student and faculty.  Come participate in this fun event.

 

FROM THE SALEM LIBRARY

New date and time: April 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Virtual Reality Workshop with Arthur and Peter Evans. Open to teens and adults. Call to sign up as space is limited 978-544-6334. "This program is supported in part by a grant from the New Salem Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency."

 "Illustrated Journaling" with Kerry Stone is for two Tuesdays, March 27, and April 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the New Salem Library. There will be a $12 material fee and the class is geared toward beginners. It is limited to 12 students so call the library to register 978-544-6334. "This program is supported in part by a grant from the New Salem Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.”

 

KEY CLUB CAN DRIVE

On Friday, March 23, the Key Club will be collecting clean, redeemable cans and bottles from students in the office lobby in the morning.  All profits go to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children to fight child abuse.  Please help this worthwhile cause. 

 

FACULTY AND STUDENTS

On Saturday, March 24, at 12:00 noon on South Common in Petersham, MA, concerned residents of Petersham, in solidarity with the marches in Washington, D.C. and throughout the United States and Europe, will hold a walk and silent vigil to honor victims of violence and to stand up for a future of hope for ourselves and for our children.  Faculty, parents and students are invited to join us.

 

Today’s lunch is pizza with cheese topping.
