128th Day of School

 

NO LATE BUS NEXT WEEK

Because of the delayed openings for MCAS testing, there will be no late bus on Tuesday, March 27th and Wednesday, March 28th

 

ELA MCAS TEST PREP

There will be an MCAS test prep session today from 2:00 – 4:00 in the library.  All students taking the 10th grade ELA MCAS test are encouraged to attend.  Remember that you do not need to stay the entire two hours.  Please see Mr. Bashaw if you have any questions.

 

BASEBALL

Any student interested in playing baseball please see Mr. Woodward.

 

COLLEGE FAIR

Field trip permission forms are now available for the National Association of College Admissions College Fair in Springfield, happening on Monday, April 9th. This trip is free (students must bring lunch money or a bagged lunch) and is available for the first forty juniors to sign up.

 

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Information is available in Student Services for the Cohn & Company Real Estate Agency Scholarship.  Any senior planning to attend the Greenfield Community College is eligible for this scholarship.  Please use the General Scholarship Application to apply and submit it to the Student Services Office.  The deadline is April 23, 2018.  Also, Scholarship Booklet #4 is now available in Student Services and on the school's website.

 

AOTV

Athol-Orange Community Television will be hosting an open house for students interested in learning more about Communications. Explore the studio, green screen, radio and tv areas. If you are interested in learning more about making your own cable tv or radio show or learn the technical side of things, come to the open house with your questions! 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. PROJECT PURPLE PARTY AT THE Y

The Athol Area YMCA will have a Project Purple Party at the Y today from 6:30-9:15.  This free event with swimming, gym, a DJ, games and pizza and snacks is open to all area Middle School and High School students. 

 

FROM THE NEW SALEM LIBRARY

New date and time: April 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Virtual Reality Workshop with Arthur and Peter Evans. Open to teens and adults. Call to sign up as space is limited 978-544-6334. "This program is supported in part by a grant from the New Salem Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency."

 "Illustrated Journaling" with Kerry Stone is for two Tuesdays, March 27, and April 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the New Salem Library. There will be a $12 material fee and the class is geared toward beginners. KEY CLUB CAN DRIVE

Today the Key Club will be collecting clean, redeemable cans and bottles from students in the office lobby in the morning.  All profits go to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children to fight child abuse.  Please help this worthwhile cause. 

 

FACULTY AND STUDENTS

Tomorrow at 12:00 noon on South Common in Petersham, MA, concerned residents of Petersham, in solidarity with the marches in Washington, D.C. and throughout the United States and Europe, will hold a walk and silent vigil to honor victims of violence and to stand up for a future of hope for ourselves and for our children.  Faculty, parents and students are invited to join us.

 

Today’s lunch is macaroni and cheese.
