March 7, 2017                                                                                                      118th Day of School

 

LATE BUS SIGN UPS

Students must sign up for the late bus during their lunch time.  Please make sure to write your first name and last name when you sign up and also list the teacher you will be staying with.

 

EARLY DISMISSAL NEXT MONDAY

There will be an early dismissal on Monday, March 13th for Teacher Professional Development.  Students will be dismissed at 10:15, buses will leave at 10:20.

 

ELA MCAS TUTORING

For grade 10 students: There will be ELA MCAS tutoring every Tuesday from 3:00 -5:00 p.m. and every Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in room H04. All 10th grade students are encouraged to attend if they feel they need a little refresher before the MCAS test. Remember that you are not required to stay the entire two hours. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Bashaw or Mrs. Kaczmarzyk.

 

SPRING SPORTS SIGN UPS

Spring sports sign-ups will be held tomorrow at 2:10 in the high school gym.  This is for all students in grades 7 – 12 wanting to play a spring sport.

 

FISH ‘N GAME CLUB

The Fish ‘N Game Club will be ordering club sweatshirts.  Please check your Mahar email to fill out an order form if you would like to order a sweatshirt.  The order form must be submitted by today at noon.  Please see Ms. Gonciarz or Mr. Bevan if you have any questions.

 

MY LITTLE PONY

The club will meet today from 3:00 – 4:00 in room S02.  We look forward to seeing you then.  Please see Ms. Church or Chayne Hurlburt (new club president) with any questions.  Refreshments will be served.

 

KEY CLUB

There will be a Key Club meeting tomorrow beginning at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Please have departure rides here for 8 p.m.

 

MUSICAL

For those interested in doing tech-crew for the play, there will be a meeting tomorrow in C15 at 2:15. This includes those interested in lights, sound, set building, and stage crew. If you are interested and cannot attend, please see Mr. Bevan.

SOS

The next SOS meeting is tomorrow from 2:00 – 3:00 in room H03.  We will be discussing the Day of Silence.  Anyone is welcome! Please see Mrs. Sullivan if you have any questions.

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAM SIGN-UPS

AP Exam sign –ups will continue through Friday, March 17th.  You may sign up in Student Services.  Please see Mrs. Tresback or Mr. Sullivan for any additional questions.

 

FRANKLIN TECH INTERVIEWS

Students who have applied to Franklin will have their scheduled interviews on Thursday.  For questions, please see Mrs. Hoyle.

 

PEER MEDIATION

All peer mediators are encouraged to attend the next seminar scheduled for Thursday from 10:00 – 10:40 in the Kermit Cook Auditorium.

 

WRESTLING BANQUET

The wrestling banquet is this Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Mahar cafeteria.  If you are a wrestler, love or even like a wrestler, if you have supported us or wish to support us, please come and celebrate our awesome season and all our accomplishments.  Wrestlers, please see Mr. Speek for additional information.

 

BOOK DRIVE

There is a book drive starting this week to collect books and to donate them. The drive will run through March 17th.

 

SENIORS 

Any senior wishing to play in the volleyball game or the basketball game against the faculty on Tuesday March 14th should sign up with Miss Smith in the Key Club room by 2 p.m. today.  Also, any seniors wishing to be cheerleaders for this event should sign up in the Key Club room by 2 p.m. today. Please sign up before school in the morning.  We will take 15 people for the volleyball team and 15 people for the basketball team; we would like to have both male and female players.  We are asking participants to pay a $1.00 fee as we are trying to raise funds for the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute.

 

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Thursday’s semi-final game will be at the UMass Cage.  Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for students.

 

 

 

 

STUDENTS AND STAFF

On Friday March 10th, March 17th and March 24th, the Key Club will be collecting clean, redeemable cans and bottles from students in the office lobby in the morning.  All profits go to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children to fight child abuse.  Please help this worthwhile cause.

 

Also, the Mahar Key Club is sponsoring a night of volleyball and basketball on Tuesday March 14th starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Mahar gym.  Games include the O.R.A. elementary school teams and the Mahar faculty against the seniors in both volleyball and basketball.    There will also be a shooting contest. The admission price is $2.00 for Mahar students and adults and $1.00 for children under 12.  All profits will go the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute in Boston. Thank you.

 

Today’s lunch is pork roast or roast beef sub.
