119th Day of School

 

DELAYED OPENING ON FRIDAY

There will be a delayed opening for students tomorrow, March 9, 2018.  Doors will open at 10:30, classes begin at 10:40.

 

SET DESIGN COMPETITION – CORAL PROPS FOR THE MUSICAL

Students can compete to win a first prize of $50 by creating coral set pieces for the Musical. Students can work in teams up to 2 students. Pieces are due March 16th so come down and see Ms. Miller or Ms. Belanger for more details!

 

MAHAR’S GOT TALENT AUDITIONS

Auditions for Mahar’s Got Talent will be next Tuesday, March 13th from 2:00 – 3:00.  See Miss Smith in the Key Club area of the library to sign up.

 

SENIORS

Scholarship Booklet #3 is now available both on the school website and in the Student Services Office.

 

SPRING SPORT SIGN UPS

Spring sport sign-ups will be held on Tuesday March 13th at 2:10 in the high school gym.

 

COLLEGE FAIR

Field trip permission forms are now available for the National Association of College Admissions College Fair in Springfield, happening on Monday, April 9th. This trip is free (students must bring lunch money or a bagged lunch) and is available for the first forty juniors to sign up.

 

PEER MEDIATION

All peer mediators are welcome to attend the seminar held today at 10:00 in the Kermit Cook Auditorium.

 

KEY CLUB NIGHT OF VOLLEYBALL AND BASKETBALL

The Mahar Key Club is sponsoring a night of volleyball and basketball tonight starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Mahar gym.  Games include the O.R.A. elementary school teams and the Mahar faculty against the seniors in both volleyball and basketball.    There will also be a shooting contest. The admission price is $2.00 for Mahar students and adults and $1.00 for children under 12.  All profits will go the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute in Boston.

FISH ‘N GAME CLUB’S 60TH ANNUAL GAME SUPPER

The Fish'N Game Club will be hosting its 60th Annual Game Supper on Thursday, March 15 beginning at 6:15 p.m. in the Mahar Cafeteria. The evening includes a menu featuring moose, deer, bear, trout, and pheasant donated by local sportsmen, awards presentation, and fantastic raffle prizes. Tickets are $15 and are available through club members, Ms. Gonciarz, Mr. Duguay, and at the door. 

 

CRIMINAL JUSTICE FIELD TRIP

Are you interested in a career in Criminal Justice? On Wednesday, March 21st, students from

R.C. Mahar will visit the Franklin County Sheriff's Office & House of Corrections in Greenfield for an information session on career pathways and training opportunities with the Sheriff's Department and a tour of the facility.  This field trip is open to students in Grades 10-12, space is limited to 15 students and must be in good academic standing.  Permission slips are available in Student Services and are due by Wednesday, March 14th.  The bus will leave school at 8:15 and return by 11:45.

 

KEY CLUB CAN DRIVE

On Friday, March 9, March 16, and March 23, the Key Club will be collecting clean, redeemable cans and bottles from students in the office lobby in the morning.  All profits go to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children to fight child abuse.  Please help this worthwhile cause.
