157th Day of School

 

MCAS TESTING NEXT MONDAY AND TUESDAY FOR GRADES 7 AND 8

There will be MCAS testing on Monday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 15 for grades 7 and 8.  Students will enter through the cafeteria at 7:23 where there will be a hot breakfast.  At 7:38 students will proceed to their testing rooms.  For students in grades 9 – 12, there will be a delayed opening.  Doors will open at 10:30, classes will begin at 10:40. 

 

SPORTS DISMISSALS

The varsity and middle school baseball teams will be dismissed at 1:45 today.  Also, the varsity and JV softball teams will be dismissed today at 1:45.

 

PEER MEDIATION

The last seminar of the year is today from 10:00 – 10:40 in the Kermit Cook Auditorium.  Hope to see you all there!

 

2 FREE GOLF LESSONS FOR 10 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Ellinwood Country Club will provide 2 free golf lessons for up to 10 middle school students.  The dates for the lessons have changed.  The new dates are June 6 and 7 from 2:30 – 5:00 p.m.  Please sign up with Mr. Woodward, the Athletic Director, ASAP.

 

FOOTBALL CHEERING TRYOUTS

Football cheering tryouts will be held on Wednesday, May 30th and Thursday, May 31st in the Charlotte Ryan Theater.  This will be a 2 day tryout.

 

MAHAR CANOE AND KAYAK CLUB

The Mahar Canoe and Kayak Club will be starting today after school. We will be meeting down at the Orange Community Boathouse at 2:30 and paddling until 4:30. Transportation from school is provided but you must arrange your own rides home from the boathouse.

 

KISS A SENIOR GOODBYE

The Key Club will be selling cards on which you can write a personalized farewell to a senior today.  Cards will be sold before school in the morning in the cafeteria and during senior high lunches.  The cards will be combined with bags of Hershey kisses and delivered to seniors during lunches on Thursday, May 24.  Faculty and staff might want to buy cards for seniors in a club, on a team, in an advisory group, or in a class.  The Smiths will also take orders in the Key Club room before school in the mornings.

 

FOOD DRIVE

The Mahar Key Club and the Senior National Honor Society are collecting can goods and non-perishable food items for the local food drive on May 15.  Collection of food will be before school in the high school lobby tomorrow and Tuesday, May 15.  This collection benefits all the local food pantries; please help out. 

 

Today’s lunch is barbecued chicken and potato salad.
