52nd Day of School

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS

Students are reminded that teachers are not available for extra help or makeup on Monday afternoons.  Students who would like to stay after school on Mondays to complete work or students who are waiting for sports practices to start, are to report to the cafeteria by 2:15.  Students should not wander the building at that time.

 

DELAYED OPENING ON WEDNESDAY

There will be a delayed opening for students on Wednesday.  Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and classes will begin at 10:40 a.m.

 

WINTER SPORTS SIGN UPS

Winter sports sign-ups will be held on Wednesday at 2:10 in the high school gym.  Remember you must have a current physical to try out for a team.

 

JETS

The high school and middle school JETS teams will meet Tuesday right after school in Mrs. Schulze’s room for another lively session of planning a sustainable biodome for living on Mars.  Any interested student who cannot make this meeting should check Google Classroom for updates and the November math challenge. 

 

AP CHEMISTRY

All students who have signed up to take AP Chemistry this spring should see Mrs. Schulze for the pre-course assignments.

 

PENNIES FOR TURKEYS

Bring in your pennies and spare change to support the Middle School Student Council's efforts to purchase turkeys for local families this Thanksgiving.  All donations must be in by Thursday, November 17th

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL

There is a middle school social this Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $5.00 in advance, $6.00 at the door.  Forget to buy a ticket in advance? Bring a canned good to the door and your ticket is $5.00!  For all Middle School students: For each additional canned good you bring you will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win Mahar Swag.

 

 

 

STUDENTS TRAVELING TO FRANCE IN 2018

The Hillside Pizza fundraiser sheets are ready for pick up from Mrs. Perham in H08 after school.  Profits will go towards the cost of the bus to and from the airport.  You have one week to sell, sell, sell these delicious organic pizzas and cookie dough.

 

SOS

The next SOS meeting is Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00 in room H03.  Anyone is welcome! Please see Mrs. Sullivan if you have any questions.

 

SKI CLUB

Anyone interested in participating in the Wachusett Mountain Ski Club, please see Ms. Riddell, Ms. Cote, Ms. Gonciarz or Mrs. Schulze as soon as possible.  Forms can be picked up from Ms. Riddell and will be available in the cafeteria at lunches.  The deadline is December 1st.

 

KEY CLUB

There will be a Key Club meeting on Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m.  Please have your departure rides here for 8 p.m.

 

SENIOR COLLEGE VISIT

A college representative from Salem State University will be here on Friday, November 18 at 8:00 a.m.  If you are interested in seeing the representative from this college, please sign up in either Student Services or your health class.  Please remember to get your college visit pass after signing up.

 

CLASS OF 2020

There will be a class of 2020 fundraising committee interest meeting tomorrow from

2:05 – 3:00 in the Student Services’ Conference Room.  All interested members must attend this mandatory meeting.  Please see Mr. Sullivan for any questions.  Also, class dues will be collected during all lunch blocks on Monday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 22nd.  Class dues are $20 and should be paid with a check.  Please see Mr. Sullivan for any questions.

 

ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF

"Let's Talk Turkey" and vote for your favorite staff member to be this year’s Pep Rally Turkey MC.  Feathers can be purchased at lunchtime from a student council member at the table near the bulletin board where all potential turkey staff will be displayed.  One feather for $1.00 or three feathers for $2.00. The turkey with the MOST feathers by next Tuesday wins the "Let’s talk Turkey". 

 

PROJECT PURPLE PARTY

The Project Purple Party will be held at the Athol YMCA on Friday from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.  This is open to all middle and high school students.

 

SOPHOMORES

A practice test for the ACT Test will be held on Thursday December 22nd, here at Mahar, for interested sophomores.  The test costs $12.00 and is great practice for the ACT, which you may take in your junior year. The PreACT test includes multiple choice questions in English, reading, math & science. It also provides information about career possibilities which you can use to start thinking about your future. Please see Mrs. Tresback in the Guidance office to sign up as soon as possible.

 

STUDENTS AND STAFF

The Key Club Thanksgiving Can Drive will continue through Tuesday, November 22.  Please bring your contributions to this year’s drive so that we can insure that everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.  There will be a collection spot in the lobby near the high school office each morning.  Students bringing food may enter at 7:30.

 

Today’s lunch is chicken breast sandwich or ham and cheese sub.
