OFFICE DETENTIONS

There are no office detentions today.


HIGH SCHOOL COMBINED REHEARSAL

All high school chorus members are scheduled for combined rehearsal today in the last block.  Please report to the Kermit Cook Auditorium after attendance is taken in your last block classes.

 

PENNIES FOR TURKEYS

Bring in your pennies and spare change to support the Middle School Student Council's efforts to purchase turkeys for local families this Thanksgiving.  All donations must be in today. 

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL

There is a middle school social tomorrow from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $5.00 in advance, $6.00 at the door.  Forget to buy a ticket in advance? Bring a canned good to the door and your ticket is $5.00!  For all Middle School students: For each additional canned good you bring you will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win Mahar Swag.

 

SKI CLUB

Anyone interested in participating in the Wachusett Mountain Ski Club, please see Ms. Riddell, Ms. Cote, Ms. Gonciarz or Mrs. Schulze as soon as possible.  Forms can be picked up from Ms. Riddell and will be available in the cafeteria at lunches.  The deadline is December 1st.

 

ROBOTICS CLUB

The club will meet in Ms. Cote’s room, C05 after school today and tomorrow.  All hands must be on-deck to help prepare for Saturday’s competition at WPI.

 

FISH ‘N GAME

A reminder that permission forms for an excused absence for opening day of deer season are due on Tuesday, November 22nd.  Forms should be turned into the middle school office.  If you did not attend the November meeting, please see Ms. Gonciarz or Mr. Bevan for more information.

SENIOR COLLEGE VISIT

A college representative from Salem State University will be here tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.  If you are interested in seeing the representative from this college, please sign up in either Student Services or your health class.  Please remember to get your college visit pass after signing up.

 

CLASS OF 2020

Class dues will be collected during all lunch blocks on Monday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 22nd.  Class dues are $20 and should be paid with a check.  Please see Mr. Sullivan for any questions.

 

YEARBOOK

The Mahar Yearbook Committee will meet next Tuesday, November 22nd at 2:15 in room H06.  Students and committee members interested in choosing the yearbook cover should attend this meeting.

 

BASKETBALL CHEERING TRYOUTS

There will be tryouts for grades 7 – 12 on November 28th, 29th and 30th from 3:00 – 5:00 in the auditorium.  This is a three day tryout.

 

FOOTBALL TICKETS

Tickets for the Turkey Day football game against Athol will be sold by Key Club members during high school lunches starting today through next Tuesday.  Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $7.00 at the gate.

 

ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF

"Let's Talk Turkey" and vote for your favorite staff member to be this year’s Pep Rally Turkey MC.  Feathers can be purchased at lunchtime from a student council member at the table near the bulletin board where all potential turkey staff will be displayed.  One feather for $1.00 or three feathers for $2.00. The turkey with the MOST feathers by next Tuesday wins the "Let’s talk Turkey". 

 

PROJECT PURPLE PARTY

The Project Purple Party will be held at the Athol YMCA tomorrow from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.  This is open to all middle and high school students.

 

SOPHOMORES

A practice test for the ACT Test will be held on Thursday December 22nd, here at Mahar, for interested sophomores.  The test costs $12.00 and is great practice for the ACT, which you may take in your junior year.  Please see Mrs. Tresback in the Guidance office to sign up as soon as possible.

 

STUDENTS AND STAFF

The Key Club Thanksgiving Can Drive will continue through Tuesday, November 22.  Please bring your contributions to this year’s drive so that we can insure that everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.  There will be a collection spot in the lobby near the high school office each morning.  Students bringing food may enter at 7:30.  Today’s results are, 3rd place, grade 12 with 3 pounds; 2nd place, grade 9 with 16 pounds and 1st place staff with 203 pounds.  Please keep bringing your food and can goods.

 

Today’s lunch is New England clam chowder or beef taco pie.
