57th Day of School

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS

Students are reminded that teachers are not available for extra help or makeup on Monday afternoons.  Students who would like to stay after school on Mondays to complete work or students who are waiting for sports practices to start, are to report to the cafeteria by 2:15.  Students should not wander the building at that time.

 

EARLY DISMISSAL ON WEDNESDAY

There will be an early dismissal this Wednesday. Students will be dismissed at 10:15 with bus departure at 10:20.

 

SKI CLUB

Anyone interested in participating in the Wachusett Mountain Ski Club, please see Ms. Riddell, Ms. Cote, Ms. Gonciarz or Mrs. Schulze as soon as possible.  Forms can be picked up from Ms. Riddell and will be available in the cafeteria at lunches.  The deadline is December 1st.

 

FISH ‘N GAME

A reminder that permission forms for an excused absence for opening day of deer season are due tomorrow.  Forms should be turned into the middle school office.  If you did not attend the November meeting, please see Ms. Gonciarz or Mr. Bevan for more information.

CLASS OF 2020

Class dues will be collected during all lunch blocks today and tomorrow.  Class dues are $20 and should be paid with a check.  Please see Mr. Sullivan for any questions.

 

BASKETBALL CHEERING TRYOUTS

There will be tryouts for grades 7 – 12 on November 28th, 29th and 30th from 3:00 – 5:00 in the auditorium.  This is a three day tryout.

 

KEY CLUB

The Key Club will be meeting tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

 

FOOTBALL TICKETS

Tickets for the Turkey Day football game against Athol will be sold by Key Club members during high school lunches today and tomorrow.  Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $7.00 at the gate.

 

 

 

BASKETBALL NIGHT

Come out to see the return of the 2012 Mahar State Champion Basketball Team face off against the Orange All Stars.  The game is at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 26th.  It will be a great night of basketball as we welcome back old friends.  Tickets are only $2 for students.

 

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is offering a college scholarship specifically to students whose life has been affected by MS.  Also, the Ronald McDonald House Charities offers a scholarship for graduating seniors who are exemplary role models in their community.  Information on both of these scholarships is available in Student Services with a deadline of January 18th.

 

ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF

"Let's Talk Turkey" and vote for your favorite staff member to be this year’s Pep Rally Turkey MC.  Feathers can be purchased at lunchtime from a student council member at the table near the bulletin board where all potential turkey staff will be displayed.  One feather for $1.00 or three feathers for $2.00. The turkey with the MOST feathers by tomorrow wins the "Let’s talk Turkey". 

 

SOPHOMORES

A practice test for the ACT Test will be held on Thursday December 22nd, here at Mahar, for interested sophomores.  The test costs $12.00 and is great practice for the ACT, which you may take in your junior year.  Please see Mrs. Tresback in the Guidance office to sign up as soon as possible.

 

MAHAR THEATRE

Miss those summer nights? Well you're the one that I want. Mahar Theatre will be having an informational meeting about this year's production: GREASE, on Wednesday, November 30th    in the Kermit Cook Auditorium.  Leather jackets encouraged. 

 

STUDENTS AND STAFF

Tomorrow is the last day to donate to the Key Club Thanksgiving Can Drive.  Please bring your contributions to this year’s drive so that we can insure that everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.  There will be a collection spot in the lobby near the high school office.  Students bringing food may enter at 7:30.  As of Friday the results are: 3rd place, grade 12 with 131 pounds; 2nd place, grade 10 with 206 pounds and 1st place, Staff with 522 pounds. 

 

SPIRIT WEEK

Don't forget this is Spirit Week sponsored by your high school student council. Today is PJ day 

Tuesday is black out day so wear your favorite black clothes from head to toe. 

Wednesday is Mahar Spirit Day so wear Blue and Red or any Mahar Sports team clothes you own.  Also, don't forget to buy a feather for your favorite teacher to MC the pep rally as the "Mahar Turkey".  Feathers are on sale at lunch 25cents for one feather or FIVE feathers for $1.00. 

 

Today’s lunch is hamburger on a whole wheat bun or ham and cheese sub.
