EARLY DISMISSAL TODAY
Students will be dismissed at 10:15 with bus departure at 10:20.
Anyone interested in participating in the Wachusett Mountain Ski Club, please see Ms. Riddell, Ms. Cote, Ms. Gonciarz or Mrs. Schulze as soon as possible. Forms can be picked up from Ms. Riddell and will be available in the cafeteria at lunches. The deadline is December 1st.
BASKETBALL CHEERING TRYOUTS
There will be tryouts for grades 7 – 12 on November 28th, 29th and 30th from 3:00 – 5:00 in the auditorium. This is a three day tryout.
The Mahar Yearbook Committee will meet next Wednesday, November 30th at 2:15 in room H06. Students and committee members interested in choosing the yearbook cover should attend the meeting.
Come out to see the return of the 2012 Mahar State Champion Basketball Team face off against the Orange All Stars. The game is at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 26th. It will be a great night of basketball as we welcome back old friends. Tickets are only $2 for students.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is offering a college scholarship specifically to students whose life has been affected by MS. Also, the Ronald McDonald House Charities offers a scholarship for graduating seniors who are exemplary role models in their community. Information on both of these scholarships is available in Student Services with a deadline of January 18th.
A practice test for the ACT Test will be held on Thursday December 22nd, here at Mahar, for interested sophomores. The test costs $12.00 and is great practice for the ACT, which you may take in your junior year. Please see Mrs. Tresback in the Guidance office to sign up as soon as possible.
Miss those summer nights? Well you're the one that I want. Mahar Theatre will be having an informational meeting about this year's production: GREASE, on Wednesday, November 30th in the Kermit Cook Auditorium. Leather jackets encouraged.
The Mahar Key Club will be collecting for the Orange Santa Fund Drive from Monday, November 28th through Friday, December 2nd. Please have your money ready and be prepared to make donations so that everyone will have a happy holiday season.
THANKSGIVING CAN DRIVE
As of yesterday, the results are as follows: 7th place, grade 7 with 10 pounds; 6th place, grade 8 with 20 pounds, 5th place, grade 9 with 95 pounds; 4th place, grade 11 with 124 pounds; 3rd place, grade 12 with 273 pounds; 2nd place, grade 10 with 299 pounds and 1st place, Staff with 1, 008 pounds.
The Key Club would like to thank all the students, faculty, and school personnel who helped to make the drive a success. The Middle School Pennies for Turkeys drive contributed $1,135.00, and the Middle School Social also resulted in a welcome donation of canned goods. The Swift River Elementary School donated a significant quantity of food. We assembled 84 boxes and serviced 84 families. Thank you all for your help and generosity; we couldn’t do the project without you.
