47th Day of School



There will be no office detentions after school today.



Please check the lost and found located in the gym, middle school office and high school office for any items you are missing.  Items that are not claimed with be donated to charity on Thursday, November 9th



Do you wish you could vote in the upcoming election?  Now you can! Mahar students will have the opportunity to make their voice heard by voting online now through November 8th.  Please check your student e-mails for an e-mail from Mr. Kirouac with a link to a Google Form.  All voting is anonymous and we hope that you all participate. 



Winter sports sign-ups will be held on Wednesday, November 16th at 2:10 in the high school gym.  Remember you must have a current physical to try out for a team.



Anyone interested in participating in the Wachusett Mountain Ski Club, please see Ms. Riddell, Ms. Cote, Ms. Gonciarz or Mrs. Schulze as soon as possible.  Forms can be picked up from Ms. Riddell and will be available in the cafeteria at lunches.  The deadline is December 1st.



Support our troops by donating candy! Treats for Troops sends candy to soldiers to help combat feelings of sadness and isolation.  NHS members will be collecting your donations at the high school lunches but donations will be accepted during all lunches.



The following colleges will be in Student Services:  on Monday, – Saint Anselm College at 8:30; Florida Atlantic University at 9:30.  Next Wednesday – Lasell College at 11:00 and Suffolk University at 1:30.  An additional visit: Western New England University will be here on Monday, November 14th at 1:00. If you are interested in seeing a representative from these colleges, please sign up in either Student Services or your Health class.  Please remember to get your college visit pass after signing up.




Turners Falls High School will be hosting FAFSA Day on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.  This is a free event that will provide the information, resources, and one-on-one assistance to complete this federally required financial aid form.  For more information stop into Student Services.



Information for the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship is now available in Student Services.  The deadline is November 30th.



A practice test for the ACT Test will be held on Thursday December 22nd, here at Mahar, for interested sophomores.  The test costs $12.00 and is great practice for the ACT, which you may take in your junior year. The PreACT test includes multiple choice questions in English, reading, math & science. It also provides information about career possibilities which you can use to start thinking about your future. Please see Mrs. Tresback in the Guidance office to sign up as soon as possible.



Are you having concerns about your grades, or getting your diploma?  Need help figuring out if you want to go to college?  Want to be a competitive applicant for future jobs?  If so, fill out an application for Community Action's Next Steps program!  Come see Brenda, who will be set up outside the lunchroom today, or you can stop by Guidance for more details or to pick up your application! 



There will be a Key Club Spaghetti Supper tonight from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Mahar cafeteria.  The menu includes spaghetti with meat or meatless sauce, salad bar, garlic bread, beverage, and homemade dessert on an "all-you- can -eat" basis.  Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $2.00 for children under 12.  Tickets are available from Key Club members.  They will also be sold during lunch today and at the door.


Today’s lunch is vegetable lasagna or Hawaiian Chicken Wrap.
