                                    41st Day of School

 

NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY FOR STUDENTS

On Friday, October 27th, there will be a Professional Development Day for teachers, therefore there is no school for students.

 

SPORTS DISMISSALS

The cross country team will be dismissed at 1:45.  The boys’ varsity and JV soccer teams will be dismissed at 1:50.

 

LATE BUS SIGN UPS

Students must sign up for the late bus during their lunch time.  The book will be located in the cafeteria.  Please make sure to write your first name and last name when you sign up and also list the teacher you will be staying with.

 

COLLEGE VISITS FOR SENIORS

Representatives from Mount Wachusett Community College will be here tomorrow at 8:30.  Saint Anselm College will be here on Thursday at 1:30.  On Tuesday, October 31st, UMass/Dartmouth will be here at 8:00 and Westfield State University will be here at 10:00.  Also, the University of Rhode Island will be here on Thursday, November 2nd at 9:30.  If you are interested in seeing these representatives, please sign up in either Student Services or your health class.  Please remember to get your college visit pass after signing up.

 

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS

Permission slips are now available in Student Services for the November 17th Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) for students who are interested in pursuing military careers. Slips are due back by November 3rd to take part in this opportunity. 

 

YEARBOOK SENIOR PICTURES

Just a reminder that senior pictures are due by November 1st

 

VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL OPTIONS

Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School is now accepting applications from 8th grade students for their Animal Science Agriculture shops.  Please see Mrs. Hoyle for further information.

 

 

 

JETS

The high school JETS team will meet in Mrs. Schulze’s room today after school to research how to make our school building more environmentally friendly.  All interested students are welcome.

 

SOS

If you plan on going on our Boston Trip, you must help fundraise. Please see Mrs. Sullivan for the fundraiser order forms.

 

FISH ‘N GAME

The Fish 'N Game Club will be hosting a fall fishing derby this Saturday at Silver Lake from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The derby is open to all club members in the high school and middle school. Please check your Mahar email for more information. See Ms. Gonciarz or Mr. Duguay if you have any questions.

 

ARCHERY CLUB

Archery Club will be meeting tomorrow from 2:15 to 3:00 in the middle school gym. Stop in if you are interested in competing or just want to have some fun shooting. Please see Ms. Gonciarz if you have any questions.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

Please return your MWCC Talent Search application by Tuesday, October 31st to Ms. Pellecchia (Ms. P.) in Room S01 in order to be eligible to win the t-shirt and attend the 'Christmas Carol' theatre trip.

 

7TH GRADE STUDENTS

The deadline to submit your field trip permission slip to the 7th Grade Leadership Conference on November 3rd is Thursday, October 26th.

 

KEY CLUB

There will be a Key Club meeting tomorrow beginning at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria prior to the Halloween activity which begins at 6 p.m.

 

NEW SALEM TOWN HALLOWEEN PARTY

The New Salem Town Halloween party is Tuesday, October 31st and we need help decorating! We also need students to bring any games they are willing to run for small kiddos.

 

 

FROM KEY CLUB

The Key Club, the National Honor Society, and the Middle School Student Council are sponsoring Halloween at Mahar this Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for grades K – 6.  There are approximately 16 candy stations and Halloween games and stories in the cafeteria.  There will be prizes for everyone.  An added feature this year is the performance of the Thriller Dance by the Dance Studio.  If you have young children in your household, please join us Wednesday night for this free, fun Halloween activity.

 

HOMECOMING THANK YOU

The Key Club would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Homecoming Weekend:

The class advisors – Miss Riddell, Miss Penna, Mrs. Menino, Mr. Kirouac, Mr. Bashaw, Miss Vorce, and Mrs.Boucher-Brunelle and classes who made banners and participated in the lip sync.  The Homecoming royalty.  All the varsity coaches and teams:  Mr. Bailey, Mr. Guertin, Mrs. Saisa, Miss Woodward, Mr. Softic, and Mrs. Bouchard.  Mr. Woodward for coordinating events.  Mr. Dion, Mr.Hemlin, Mr.Inman and Mr. Malo for helping with the tailgate party.  Helene Holmes, Abby Holmes, Miss Gwosch, and Mr. Mercier for judging the lip sync.  Mrs. Hammond, Mrs. Paradis, and Mrs. LaCroix for judging the class banners.  The art teachers Miss Miller and Miss Belanger for help with the banners.  Ms. Vorce for helping with the parade.  Mr. George Hunt for the flatbed.  Mr. Chad Softic for announcing.  Mr. Dowler and Miss Riddell for chaperoning the dance.  The custodians for their help setting up and cleaning up for events.  The cafeteria staff for preparing the tailgate food.  Thank you all for your help.

 

Today’s lunch is chicken tenders and whipped potato.
