29th Day of School



The varsity volleyball team and the girls’ varsity soccer team will be dismissed at 1:50.  The middle school field hockey team will be dismissed at 2:00.



On Thursday, October 13th, there will be a free flu clinic for students in the nurse’s office.  Permission slips are available on the Mahar website and from the nurse.  Please return permission slips to the nurse’s office by Wednesday, October 12th



A representative from Nichols College will be in Student Services Wednesday, October 12th at 11:00.   American International College will be here on Friday, October 14th at 8:30.  Also, Worcester State University will be here on Monday, October 17 at 8:30.  If you are interested in seeing the representatives from these colleges, please sign up in either Student Services or your Health class.  Please remember to get your college visit pass after signing up.



There is a field trip to UMass/Amherst on October 24th for The Women in Engineering & Computing Career Day.  It’s a great opportunity to see the college, meet professors, college students and more.  The cost is $20.  For more details or to sign up, see Mrs. Sullivan in room H03.  If you want to go, you must sign-up by October 12th



The Petersham and Orange Lions Clubs are jointly sponsoring a Massachusetts Youth Speech Competition here at Mahar on November 16th in the Charlotte Ryan Theater.  This competition provides an opportunity for students in grades 9 – 12 to speak publicly and freely on a designated topic of general interest.  Prizes and awards are given at each level of competition.  Please contact Mr. Speek in room H20 if you are interested in participating in this rewarding opportunity.  The deadline is October 15th 



Has there been someone in your life touched by cancer? The Mahar Cancer Walk will take place this Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on the Mahar Track and Field and in the gym in case of rain. This event is a celebration of life and the opportunity for the community to come together to raise money to help those fighting this deadly disease.  There will be a survivor lap at 11:00 A.M. for all who would like to come and participate. There will be music, small gifts for participants, balloons, food and beverages, and a silent auction.  There are sponsor forms in either the Middle School or High School offices.  Hope to see you there!
