LATE BUS SIGN UPS
Students will not be able to sign up on Chromebooks. Mr. Malo will have a sign up book at all lunches and the book will be in the Middle School office until 1:30.
FREE FLU CLINIC
On Thursday, October 13th, there will be a free flu clinic for students in the nurse’s office. Permission slips are available on the Mahar website and from the nurse. Please return permission slips to the nurse’s office by Wednesday, October 12th.
MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH HOMEWORK CLUB
The Middle School Math Homework Club will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Miss Lawless in room C13 from 2-3pm.
COLLEGE VISITS FOR SENIORS
A representative from Nichols College will be in Student Services Wednesday, October 12th at 11:00. If you are interested in seeing the representative from this college, please sign up in either Student Services or your Health class. Please remember to get your college visit pass after signing up.
ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS
There is a field trip to UMass/Amherst on October 24th for The Women in Engineering & Computing Career Day. It’s a great opportunity to see the college, meet professors, college students and more. The cost is $20. For more details or to sign up, see Mrs. Sullivan in room H03. If you want to go, you must sign-up by October 12th.
PUERTO RICO TRIP
Due to the recent prevalence of the Zika Virus in Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rico 2017 trip has been cancelled and there will be no informational meeting this Thursday.
Today’s meeting is from 3:00 – 5:00 in room H03. Anyone is welcome! Please see Mrs. Sullivan if you have any questions.
There will be a Key Club meeting today beginning at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. Please have departure rides here for 8 p.m.
FISH ‘N GAME CLUB
The Fish ‘N Game Club meetings scheduled for today will be postponed until next Wednesday, October 12th.
Anyone interested in working on the yearbook should meet in room H06 today from 2:15-2:45. Superlative categories will be chosen, as well as other important tasks.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
2017 Mock Trial Competition sign-ups will be held in Ms. Ninteau’s room today between 2:05 – 3:00.
The Robotics Club will meet today after school in Ms.Cote’s room, C05 from 2:10 – 3:00. We will be designing and building a new robot from VEX parts. The meeting is open to all students interested in robotics.
MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL
There will be a middle school student council meeting today from 2:00 – 3:00 in Mrs. Messing’s classroom. Please let Mrs. Messing know if you are unable to attend.
YOUTH SPEECH COMPETITION
The Petersham and Orange Lions Clubs are jointly sponsoring a Massachusetts Youth Speech Competition here at Mahar on November 16th in the Charlotte Ryan Theater. This competition provides an opportunity for students in grades 9 – 12 to speak publicly and freely on a designated topic of general interest. Prizes and awards are given at each level of competition. Please contact Mr. Speek in room H20 if you are interested in participating in this rewarding opportunity. The deadline is October 15th.
MAHAR CANCER WALK
Has there been someone in your life touched by cancer? The Mahar Cancer Walk will take place this Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on the Mahar Track and Field and in the gym in case of rain. This event is a celebration of life and the opportunity for the community to come together to raise money to help those fighting this deadly disease. There will be a survivor lap at 11:00 A.M. for all who would like to come and participate. There will be music, small gifts for participants, balloons, food and beverages, and a silent auction. There are sponsor forms in either the Middle School or High School offices. Hope to see you there!
