What is Inclusion Support Tutorial Class?

The main focus of the Middle School Inclusion Support Class (Tutorial) is for each student to receive the support and help they need to develop the skills necessary for them to be successful in their regular education academic classes. Each student’s academic needs and level of support required will be different.

Examples: understanding homework; organizing long-term projects; reviewing class vocabulary/content material; and learning test taking/study strategies.

Grading Policy:

Students will be graded based on a point system. The grading system is set up on a 3-point system in which one (1) point will be earned for meeting each of the following expectations:

1 pt.                Attending class on time

1 pt.                Bringing all required materials and school issued agendas (with all assignments recorded)

1 pt.                Staying on task and working throughout the entire class period

 Total:  3 pts.

For tutorial class, you can earn 3 points each day.  At the end of the quarter, your task points will be added up and divided by the total amount of task points possible to determine your letter grade. Each student will self-assess their work using this point system at the end of each class period in an effort to help students take control and responsibility over their learning in the classroom. This grade will be recorded, along with the date, in an individual student notebook that will be provided by the teacher. The teacher reserves the right to adjust grading based on actual performance.

Extra Help:

We are available each day after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:15-3:00.  Please utilize after school help sessions as much as you can. It is a great opportunity to work on assignments and organization and get clarification on any points of confusion. There will be a 3:00 late bus on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this year. In addition, we also encourage you to seek out extra help from your House teachers whenever you feel that you may need the extra support.

Final Note:

We are looking forward to an extremely successful year working with each of you. Please always remember that we are here to help you succeed in school!
